Do you offer custom saunas?
We offer a full suite of architectural drafting and 3D viewing of designs as you work towards visualizing the sauna you’ve been waiting for. We offer turn-key designs that work, but can also additionally design certain customization to your preferences.

Do you offer wood burning or electric stoves?

We’re partial to wood-burning HUUM sauna stoves as the island provides an almost endless source of fuel and there is something romantic about building a fire and savoring the steam. We also build for and` recommend other leading brands such as Harvia and Iki. If you prefer an electric stove, we do offer but keep in mind, this does increase site-work costs with bringing ample power to your sauna structure,
Do I need a permit?

Vineyard Saunas recommends you address major electrical needs with your existing electrician, but we also have a dedicated electrician we use that can help work out your needs and work separately with you on the costs associated to complete work for a sauna.

What are the Windows made of?
Vineyard Saunas are under 200sqft and operate as an accessory structure, not dissimilar to a shed. A shed permit is enough to coordinate and we can easily walk you through the process with our team.
The principals of Vineyard Saunas are indeed licensed, with a CSL (Construction Supervisors License -Unrestricted) from the State of Massachusetts. This ensures an incredibly high build quality and also professional process from design to build.

Vineyard Saunas has a wide access to a variety of wood species. While Western Red Cedar is a popular choice, it does represent a larger supply chain footprint with travel typically from British Columbia and the Pafici Northwest. Alternatively, Eastern White Cedar is our primary choice for interior finish as it represents incredible performance with heat and humidity but more importantly, has a lesser heat conductivity so wall panels on the interior remain cooler to the touch.
Our saunas feature ROCKWOOL® insulation for the wall assemblies and often roof assemblies. Additionally we install a vapor barrier and when applicable, rigid insulation based on placement and local requirements.
Many Sauna builders specify basic window packages, but based on our build ethos and local climate, we feature Pella® windows that are argon filled, tempered and multi-pane for not only a performance requirement but for safety and functionality. This further drives our high quality construction practices.

Yes! While we have a number of standard models built off our proprietary foundation system, we can work with you on incorporating a custom sauna structure on your property easily. Custom saunas follows a more traditional design and build schedule typically found with custom homes and construction.
Where are your saunas built?
Do you ship saunas off-island?
Our saunas are exclusively built and designed on Martha’s Vineyard. While there are many online choices for pre-made or kit package saunas available, we focus on a locally built product that exceeds the craftsmanship of others and our designs uniquely align with the ethos and character of the island.
Currently we are not shipping saunas off Martha’s Vineyard but have coordinated the capabilities in the near future if there is significant demand.
